Join us for a great, fun day at the Australian Tapestry workshop followed by a tour of the South Melbourne Market* Travel & Lunch: -Take the 9am bus 906 from the Warrandyte Neighbourhood House stop -Disembark bus at Melbourne Central stop, corner Swanston & Londsdale Streets -Catch #1 South Melbourne Beach tram at stop #10 in Swanston Street -Disembark tram in Park Street, South Melbourne at stop #24 Park Street (just past Clarendon Street) -10:30am Morning Tea @ Barkers Cafe, 231-233 Park Street, South Melbourne (Opposite Australian Tapestry Workshop) -11:00am Australian Tapestry Workshop Tour, 262-266 Park Street, South Melbourne, $10 per person, payable on the day, card or cash -After the workshop its a short walk to South Melbourne Market, along the way Austro Bakery, 147-149 Cecil Street, South Melbourne is recommended for its good food, eat in or take away for lunch -From here it is a short walk to South Melbourne Market, corner Cecil Street & Coventry Streets where we have requested a tour*, $35 per person -Homeward journey will be light rail from South Melbourne Station (Coventry Street) to the City via Bourke Street. -The #906 Bus service to Warrandyte is a short walk along Swanston Street to the Bus Stop in Lonsdale Street The Australian Tapestry Workshop: During the tour you will have an opportunity to observe the weavers at work from our mezzanine, and to look down into the colour laboratory where the yarns are dyed for production. The ATW has two galleries which feature curated exhibitions of tapestries, textiles and contemporary art on a rotating basis. We have also have a shop on site where we sell our exclusive yarns, with a colour range of 368 colours, as well as ATW cards, jigsaw puzzles and books.Please note - the mezzanine viewing platform is at the top of several stairs and is not wheelchair-accessible. If you require a wheelchair or walker, our friendly staff can arrange for you to watch the weavers from the workshop floor. Visitors are welcome to come to the ATW at any time during public opening hours. Entry is by gold coin donation. The tour costs $10 per person and is payable on the day, cash or card.
