Fitzroy Gardens - Fitzroy Gardens is one of Melbourne’s most historic and beautiful gardens. Located in East Melbourne, the gardens were named after Sir Charles Augustus Fitzroy, Governor of NSW. Featuring pathways lined with magnificent elm trees, a variety of flowers and ornamental shrubs and layered landscapes. A watercourse that runs through the center of the gardens is an ephemeral tributary of the Yarra River, Birrarung. The Scarred Tree in the south-east section of the gardens is associated with pre-colonial use of the area by Aboriginal people and it is a registered on the Aboriginal Heritage Register. Stroll through the gardens and enjoy exploring Cook’s Cottage, the Model Tudor Village and Olga Cohn’s magical Fairies’ Tree as well as enjoying other sculptures and water features. Parliament House Guided Tour - Explore our history. Experience our heritage. People, architecture and artefacts are all part of the story of Victoria’s democracy. Explore parliament’s history and the role it has played in shaping our lives today. The 50 minute guided tour (free) will explain more about the role, history and work of the Parliament while exploring this significant building with one of the experienced Tours and Outreach Officers. *Enter the Legislative Chambers where laws are made and hear about the mystery of the stolen mace.  *Learn about the Westminster style of Parliament while sitting in a Member of Parliament's chair. *Have your photo taken with Queen Victoria in the grand hall named after her and admire the portraits of past Premiers that adorn the walls. *Discover the Library that played a role in convincing the Federal Parliament to occupy the building from 1901 to 1927. Our guides are happy to answer any questions you may have about the building, or the work that Parliament does and how you can get involved. TRANSPORT: 9.30am - #906 Bus from WNH/Warrandyte Library MORNING TEA: 10.20am - Square & Compass Cafe, 22 Clarendon Street, East Melbourne (at own expense). Explore Fitzroy Gardens at your own pace. LUNCH: 12.15pm to 1.45pm - Roccella, 158 Clarendon Street, East Melbourne (at own expense). Following lunch, stroll through the gardens once again enroute to Parliament House. A GUIDED TOUR OF PARLIAMENT HOUSE 2.15pm - 50 minutes, free of charge.
